Kayla is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) who emphasizes creating a healthy connection between the mind and the body. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies from the University of Virginia in 2022. She found her way to North Carolina for an accelerated graduate program at UNC Chapel Hill, earning her Master’s in Education in School Counseling and Mental Health in 2023. Since her time in school and thereafter, Kayla has gained experience as a mentor, group facilitator, school counselor, and mental health therapist.

Kayla is passionate about supporting people in their everyday lives. It is her priority to make each client feel safe, authentic, and heard in the therapeutic setting. Kayla works with a variety of populations, including children, teens, college students, and adults. From supporting clients with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and emotion regulation to helping with life transitions, people pleasing tendencies, and personal goals, she is happy to be a part of each individual journey and help clients navigate the twists and turns of life.

Kayla utilizes a person-centered, strengths-based approach. She believes each person is unique and has individual strengths and characteristics that they can learn how to use effectively in order to create change in their lives. In sessions, she pairs this approach with Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, CBT, DBT, and other creative interventions, such as Art and Play-based therapies.

In her free time, Kayla enjoys spending time with her two beloved dogs, training for half or full marathons, trying a new workout in the gym, or grabbing an (iced!) coffee with friends. She also has a growing love for plants, and she is learning the ins and outs of gardening.

One of Kayla’s favorite quotes is, "You can't pour from an empty cup." Furthermore, it is her belief that self-care, self-love, and self-compassion are essential in life. If you think that Kayla would be a good fit for what you are seeking in therapy, then she would be honored to start this journey together.
