Alli Burns,
Therapist, LCSWA

Alli is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) in the state of North Carolina (license number: P023805). She earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed training at the UNC Department of Psychiatry Child and Family Guidance Program.
Alli believes that therapy offers a space for people of all ages to explore their inner worlds and experience connection in a consistent and caring way. Alli leads with empathy and humility, encouraging clients in showing their most authentic self, and striving to understand their experience while considering the systems they are living within. As a psychodynamic therapist, she deeply values relationships as a source of healing and change. Alli believes that there is always opportunity for awareness to grow, compassion to develop and change to happen for clients to be able to live out the goals they set for themselves.
Alli has experience providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, and parents, using play- and talk-based interventions grounded in psychodynamic, attachment, and trauma-informed theories. Play therapy offers a space for children to engage in self- exploration, develop curiosity and insight into their internal world, build secure relationships, and practice coping and self-regulation skills. She believes caregivers are fundamental in supporting children in therapeutic work, and she collaborates closely with them. As a therapist, Alli values having walked alongside both the rewarding and challenging pieces of the parenting experience and encouraging support for caregivers in navigating various stages. She believes that together, parents and therapists can think creatively about children’s behaviors and experiences, strengthen parenting skills, and examine how past experiences may influence parenting and family relationships.
Outside of the therapy space, Alli enjoys spending time with her dog, Rainey. She enjoys getting outside - whether that be paddle boarding on a lake or finding a new trail to explore. She also loves baking, trying new recipes, and finding new ways to keep active, such as running, spin classes and line dancing.
